Pioneer Debuts Revolutionary Horizontal-Vertical Transforming Technology for the Car
Patented HVT Technology Creates Powerful Bass in Extremely Compact Package
Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today introduced the TS-WH500A amplified subwoofer system, featuring Pioneer’s patented Horizontal-Vertical Transforming (HVT) Technology. A truly groundbreaking approach in loudspeaker design, HVT technology uses a unique linkage mechanism, which allows the magnet and voice coil of the dual motor structure to be positioned horizontally to the left and the right side of vertically moving dual speaker diaphragms. Combined, the two diaphragms have an effective surface area equal to a conventional 8-inch subwoofer and fire in a bipolar arrangement, increasing output while also cancelling destructive vibrations within the enclosure. The result of this innovative technology is a subwoofer system with significantly reduced physical depth, while maintaining greater excursion and linearity for superior bass reproduction, natural sound quality and higher output.
“Pioneer’s founder, Nozomu Matsumoto, began manufacturing loudspeakers for high fidelity music playback in 1938. In the 76 years since Pioneer’s inception, we have continued to develop new and innovative loudspeaker technology with a single purpose: to reproduce the passion and energy of the musical performance regardless of listening location,” said Ted Cardenas, vice president of marketing for the Car Electronics Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Pioneer’s Horizontal-Vertical Transforming Technology is a completely different design that results in a smaller loudspeaker that easily fits in a wide range of vehicle applications without sacrificing performance or sound quality.”
Measuring only 13-7/16 inches x 9-7/8 inches x 2-3/8 inches, the extremely compact TS-WH500A can be installed in many small, tight areas where conventional subwoofers cannot, such as under or behind a seat. Housed in a sealed enclosure made of high-grade resin, the TS-WH500A is a fully amplified design with a wideband, high-current 50 watt RMS amplifier (150 watt maximum) and can easily be connected to aftermarket car stereos or integrated into factory installed systems.
Additional Information:
- Frequency Response: 20Hz – 200Hz
- Sensitivity: 98 dB
- Impedance: 4 Ohm
- Wired remote control for adjusting volume, low-pass crossover frequency and phase
The Pioneer TS-WH500A subwoofer will be available in March with a suggested price of $300.
